The Un-Scammy Side of “Detox”

Although the word “detox” tends to have a pretty negative connotation, with the association usually being tied to fad diets and weight loss.  What if you started to associate the word with a positive connotation that is the beautiful opportunity to restore our body back to balance. We absolutely are capable of thriving.  We are capable of living a long, beautiful, healthy life!  The little bit of hard work you put in now will pay off both now and later!

With the alarming rate of illnesses of all kinds increasing and life expectancy decreasing, I think we need to take this as a wake up call.  Just by understanding the extremeness of what has been going on in terms of human lifestyle over the past decade or two, we can use the knowledge to better our lives and take charge of our health and life.

Imagine this, you wake up from a restful night’s sleep.  You’re filled with energy and zest and cannot wait to start the day.  You step outside to your garden and grab a bounty for the day.  Smiling and refreshed after being in the clean air and under the healing sun, you’re ready to prepare a local, organic breakfast for your family.  You work from home in an office filled with air-purifying plants, great natural light, and a great view of the outdoors.  Your day is filled not only with working, but also taking breaks to be outside (such as eating meals outside and taking short walks in the country air), practicing mindfulness, expressing gratitude, and keeping your vibration high.  After work, you take care of some chores using non-toxic cleaners and then cook a fresh, organic dinner also sourced from your garden out back.  As the day comes to a close, you’re able to squeeze in a yoga session or perhaps maybe just a 15 minute stretching session.  All throughout the day, you’ve stayed hydrated with filtered water. You value your mental, physical, and emotional well-being and are excited to do it all again tomorrow.  You are thriving.

Now imagine this, you just woke up after a poor night’s rest.  You guzzle down your caffeine of choice because you don’t have any energy without it.  Now it’s time to work, you sit indoors staring at a screen all day long.  When lunch time rolls around, you’re so busy and feel “too lazy” to make anything, so you end up Door-Dashing a nice GMO-filled, ultra-processed meal out of a plastic container with a plastic fork.  By the time the work day is over, you might be lucky enough to go for a walk.  On your walk, you’re inhaling a nice mix of fresh air with hints of pollution from the fumigation spray your neighbor just doused her lawn in to keep pests away or the Roundup your landscaper sprayed to keep your lawn the greenest in the neighborhood or just some good ol’ city living exhaust.  Throughout the day, you’ve sipped on tap water contaminated with fluoride, glyphosate and the list goes on.  Now it’s dinner time and you’re “so stressed” so you want something comforting and easy, like something processed and packaged from your freezer.  Then you lay on your phone on your couch covered in flame-retardants known to be linked with cancer and reproductive issues for a good couple of hours to “unwind”...

By comparing these two situations above, we see how important it is in this very moment to support our bodies by avoiding what we can and by incorporating detox protocols into our life.

Wherever you fall on the spectrum of physical, mental, and emotional health, you have the power to change your life.  You are smarter and stronger than you think.  You don’t have it all wrong.  You’ve adapted to a society that’s backbone is stress.  We’ve been persuaded into thinking this was all normal and okay, but we’re waking up by realizing the damage all of these chemicals have done.

Now come the questions, “where do I begin?” and “how do I start detoxing?”.  Whatever you are going through, we can address it together, we can figure out what detox protocols will serve you best.  Set up you free consultation today.
